What to do if I don't have a secondary identity document for PR renewal?

All:

I am Renewing my Canadian Permanent Residence Card because mine is about to expire. The instruction guide for application to Renew Canadian residence card states that I need to send a copy of two of the following:

your Record of Landing (IMM 1000) or Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688)
or
your valid provincial driver’s licence, provincial photo-identity card
or
your University/College student card

I don't have the Record of Landing (IMM 1000) or Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688).
I misplaced my Record of Landing (IMM 1000).
However, I did apply for a certified or replacement immigration document for the Record of Landing (IMM 1000). I also received a receipt after I applied for a certified or replacement immigration document for the Record of Landing (IMM 1000).

What do I do if I don't have a Record of Landing (IMM 1000) or Confirmation of Permanent Residence (IMM 5292 or IMM 5688)?

And I bet you used to tell your teacher that the DOG ate your homework, LOL!!!! If you do not have a driver's license, then you can get a Provincial ID card at the Motor Vehicle Branch anyway. Hopefully your replacement Landing Record or PR will come soon as well. I think you might need a better filing system. Good luck.

Pippin:

Thank you for your help. I do have a Canadian Driver's license.

It's the missing Record of Landing that I don't have.

I was going to just tell CIC that I have applied for a certified true copy of the Record of Landing, and then just mail them the receipt when I apply for my Canadian PR renewal.
Does that sound ok?

Do they have a phone number or email address for enquiries? I'd think that is your best bet. Am I right in thinking you are working on a very tight time frame and cannot wait for the arrival of the replacement card? Are there any stamps with dates in your passport that correspond with your landing? I am just thinking outside the box and getting a notarized copy of any proof like that, together with the receipt for replacement of documents, MIGHT just be enough, but I have absolutely NO knowledge of this area. In your shoes, I would try to contact them directly and ask for advice. All the best. Woof woof...

LOL @ dog ate his his homework. :p If you are not travelling any time soon, consider waiting for the certified copy. You remain a pr even if your card expires. Guard it with your life this time... you don't want to be applying for many certified copies because it starts to look suspicious - people are known to sell their papers(not saying this is what you did).

You should consider making copies of your new document and keep them in a separate envelope form the original. This way, you already have copies for future use if need be.
