How much luggage you are allowed to bring is determined by your airline. You should contact them or take a look at the information on their web site.

I would avoid bringing any food to Canada to avoid running into issues at customs.

You will all be issued with a PR card, therefore you no longer need a visa.

However it may take 2-4 months to arrive in which case you can only enter by land until it does, not via a commercial airliner.

Rumours and threads abound on this subject, but in a nutshell you MAY be denied boarding on a flight to Canada if you do not have a PR card.

Do not travel with any food. Especially meat and fish but everything on your list sounds dubious.
If you do bring something, declare it. They never seem to care if I'm carrying an apple.

Tnx so much for the reply, pls how do we go abt the declaration?any format for it? 3days to go,can't wait

You will receive the declaration form in the airplane. Otherwise, you can also pick it up on arrival.

Tnx a lot dis is so helpful.

If you want you can do goods to follow too, we have moved 20F container filled with household goods (i.e Utencils, Cuttlery, Linens, etc. etc.) without any furniture, because they allow you for anything only for the first time.

manuel.ference at gmail.com if additional info required

I think going with household goods is Kind of waste of time and stressful when one can easily use. The money for the shipping to buy cheap ones in CANADA........if we can move anything for the 1st time I'm thinking of going with some local food like semolina,Cassava flour(garri),beans, crayfish, dried fish, melon etc,I've heard from sm1 dt went with dem,but I'm seriously nervous,I trust God to scale us through.

The "move anything" only refers to the duty/taxes exemption. It does not mean that items that would be normally refused can be imported. In your position, I would not attempt to import food, as it will cause stress and delay, even if they eventually allow it to pass.

As zardoz has posted, I would not attempt to import food. Especially fish/meat (even if dried) and vegetables/fruit.
