1. Maintain all entry and exit dates with time on a google spreadsheet
2. Make credit transaction in a tim hortons or somewhere the day you leave and come back. Scan and upload that receipt as the print out given will fade within months.
3. maintain all utilities receipts (mobile, landline, property tax, insurance, water and waste etc.,). Companies will give you only last 18 statements or last one year. so downlaod and store it in google drive or a cloud storage.
4. go to doctor for regular check up for 3 reasons 1. it is good to do that for your health, 2. it is free and 3. You can order for medical records to show your visits when you apply for Citizenship
5. credit card statements. Again even your online statements will be there only for last 27 or 17 depending on the card. So download and store it in cloud or google drive.
6. lease, rental agreements and other proof of residence should be maintained.
7 tax filings

Again maintain as much as you can dont make it an OCD. Also maintain for your family members. Include all of them in as many bills or accounts as possible. If not open one or two accounts on each one of them.

Get credit cards for each one of them and make regular transactions on the same.

All the best.

Yes if they are willing to provide a letter that is good enough but most landlords/ladies will hesitate coz if they sign an agreement with you then they have to declare the rental income in their taxes.

Tell them that they can address it to CIC and see if they give you one.

The new landlord to provide an agreement for driving license proof or some address proof bullshit.

Even if you dont have rental agreement atleast start maintaining other items I mentioned.
