If I were you - I would look up IELTS practice listening questions and listen to those instead of trying to improve your English by listening to songs. Because IELTS-style listening questions are very different than English songs - and also, popular songs don't usually follow your typical grammar rules...so it might confuse your even more when you are listening to idioms and slangs from that country

I agree. Songs are useless.
 
Understinding of songs only useful when you wanted to be a song lyricist..lol :)
