What should I do while I wait for the ITA?

I have submitted my EE profile and created my jobprofile

I submitted the profile from within Canada. I have been in Canada for almost 6 years (International student + PGWP)

Currently still on my PGWP

What do I do next?

Am I required to get a RCMP Police Check? Or do I wait till CIC requests me to get one? I heard CIC performs a check by themselves and requests a fingerprint check if they need confirmation or something

Should I take a medical test now? or wait till CIC requests one?

What other documents should I be expecting to provide?

I am working on getting my past and current employer's reference letters. Can someone advice me what should the letter contain? how detailed should the letter be? (2-3 pages)?


What else should I prepare myself with till I get ITA? This whole thing keeps me awake at night. Please advice.

- That's also what I understand for the RCMP requirement, only upon request, If you lived in other countries for an accumulated time of 6 months or more, you'll need to get those. What I'm not clear yet is if it only starts from the time you were aged 18 or 10 years ago, whichever is more recent, or someone can also pitch in with a clearer explanation. The recent change by CIC for the PCC requirement throws off a lot of people.

- You can take the medical test now, but bear in mind you have to make your landing as PR one year from the date you took it. Maybe it doesn't matter for you since you're already in Canada.

- Your transcript and degrees, passport...you likely don't need to show proof of funds, assuming you are qualified for CEC.

- The work reference letter format can be found in this CEC checklist...as well as the full list of the documents you can expect to submit (except for the birth certificate, no longer required in Express Entry): http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5610E.PDF

- Oh, and a digital photo as well, the format and specs will be described in the online checklist.

a lot of your questions can be answered here.

You don't need to do the RCMP yet, any other countries you have lived (or visited) for over 6 months all together (could be one trip, or multiple trips combined), then you need PCC for it.

I think usually the best time to do medical is right after you receive ITA.

Regarding Employment Reference Letter, check with the web page i posted. Everything is clearly outlined there.

IRCC says most of the applications will get processed within 6 months

My apologize for too many questions. My PGWP is to expire next year April. I am aware of the BOWP etc. But I am hoping not to go through that hassle.

AOR (date of application submission) to PPR (passport request) is average 6 months, but some lucky inlanders can take 2-3 months. Usually can be 4-5 months for inlanders based on the forum members' reports here.
PPR to COPR (confirmation of permanent residence) is about 2 weeks. And then you can land after getting the COPR.

However, the police check from the other country might take a bit long so I am quite worried what is the time allowed to submit all the documents once asked?

You will get 60 days to submit all your documents after ITA.

I will suggest get your PCC from Your home country.

Get Medicals only after you get ITA as it is valid only for 1 year. IF you get it now and say you get ITA after 2 months than PPR after 6 than your VIsa will only be valid for 4 months or less.

If you are claiming points for your education outside Canada, get the Evaluation done.
