What Should Be The Plan

Hello there,

Once we get Canada PR we have three options (as far as I think) for job search.
1. Resign from your current job (say in India), land in Canada and then start searching for job.
2. Take leave/sabbatical your current job. Then land in Canada, start searching for job. Once you have a job offer, immediately come back to your country and resign. Serve the notice period set by your employer and then go back to Canada to join the new job.
3. Start searching for a job from your country (say India). Appear for telephonic/Skype interviews. Once you have an offer, land in Canada.

So, I just want to ask you guys if the option #3 is possible at all? If it doesn't succeed then what other option you will take?

In my opinion, you should searching for job you satisfy while working in home country first, depending on your efforts, there are too many website to find jobs such as www.jobbank.gc.ca.,www.indeed.ca, www.kijiji.com,etc. Once you know where to settle and got the job after that you can resign from company and then get ready for relocation.

Yeah, this would be ideal but how many employers are willing to call you on non-Canada telephone number? Also will they be ready for telephonic/Skype interviews?

They wouldn't call you on non-Canada telephone number for sure, but if they interested in your profile and experience, they might reply you via email or Skype interview.

You will be better off if you can secure job from India, and start off right after landing in Canada, do not waste your time

I would say option #1 all the way. Reason why is that there are two things that are critical for getting a Canadian job - soft skills and networking. Both of these are almost impossible to acquire remotely. Option #2 is not viable since you should expect to spend at least a good 6 months on job search. Thanks bud. This is really helpful. Option 1 although seems to be the best one, it is kind of scary. Quitting a job and then coming to Canada. What if I don't find a job there? I won't then have an option to return to India!

No problem. I know it's scary but immigration is a huge risk we take. It's better to know and plan ahead. The only solution is to have enough funds to get by (for 6 months) and set firm deadlines for everything you plan to do from day 1 (including for a return if things don't work out). I think this forum has lots of resources to plan ahead. Asivad's post in the following thread perfectly summarizes a possible approach to challenges of immigration:
