First Congratulations to everyone on the C6 bill becoming a law.

I have been living in Ontario on work permit since March 2014 and currently my express entry was applied by lawyer hired by my employer in August 2017. I am hoping PR will be issued by March 2018.

1.As I understand after C6, I can apply for citizenship in two years from PR issuance.Since I have been working since March 2014. Is that understanding correct.

2. The new residency requirement isn't clear.
Can I work outside Canada after getting PR and still qualify after two years for citizenship.

Thanks

Assuming you are going to get PR in March 2018 and have not traveled much,
You will be eligible for citizenship around March 2020

Hi Hamilton Applicant

Thank you for your reply.

I will get max one year credit for the time spent before PR, right.

Then I will need another two years after PR..am I missing something

Yes, you are right! You will get 365 days of Pre-PR credit and will become eligible around March 2020! I have corrected the OP...

Thanks.
With the new law do I need to live in Canada after getting PR. The 183 days per year has been removed.
