Hi guys! Here's the story. Please help me understand what did we do wrong. I am a canadian citizen. My kid was born outside of Canada. I did apply for the proof of citizenship on her behalf. Now I wanted the kid and her mother to visit me. I have submitted all possible documents to the embassy including bank statements, tax papers, proof that I am a father of the child, invitation etc. both visas got rejected because the purpose of the visit was not good enough. I don't understand what other purpose other than to see my child be ok with the embassy?

Hi

For one thing, your child does not qualify for any type of visitor visa because she is Canadian. As you've already applied for proof of citizenship, if she is under 2, you can apply for a limited validity Canadian passport. If she is over the age of 2, you would need to apply for a Facilitation Visa.

For the child's mother, I'm sorry to say that chances are low that she will be approved for a TRV. With a Canadian child and a (either former or current, you don't say if you are still in a relationship) Canadian partner, she is a high risk to overstay in Canada.

Thank you! I had no idea about that passport. Can I apply now? Even though the application is still in review? My daughter is 6 months old. Obviously she can't fly alone. And she needs her mother of course. So I guess there's no chance for them to visit me in the near future?

Yes, you can apply for a limited validity passport with proof that you've already submitted the Certificate of Citizenship app.

The child's mother needs to show VERY STRONG ties to her home country to be approved for a TRV. It's not impossible, we have seen people be successful when they've put together a strong app, so have a look for what else can be included to show her ties.

Purpose of visit is too vague and general. Needs to be more detailed. Where will you go? Where will you stay? How long? What's the cost to go there? What attractions will you see? etc

:) I'm not going anywhere. I live in Canada. All that info was included in invitation letter except for attractions. I don't think 6 month old baby cares for them :)

But you said, I want the kid AND mother to visit me. What's the mother going to do? Purpose of visit needs to be detailed, can't be just a one sentence line like "They will visit me and stay in my house".
