I need to call the Case Processing Center in Mississauga due to a mistake I made on my application I sent in April. I saw the number for them is f if you're calling from inside Canada. I'm in the US. The other number I saw is for the call center for visa office outside Canada. What number should I call? Thanks. I didn't validate the generic application or sponsorship application cause I filled it out by hand.

I just called last night to ask a couple of questions. The agent was extremely friendly and helpful. My name is in the system, but the agent told me it will be a couple of months until I get approval. I went over my situation and he was convinced that we will get the visa quickly. He also said that having a Canadian child with a Canadian father will help our case because they will not want to separate the family. Hoping he is right and everything gets completed quickly!!

Thanks Fencesitter, you are a big life saver, haha. I'm going to call them tomorrow since my husband can be home in the day while I make the call. That is great news that the agent was so positive w/your case. That is great to hear also that they won't want to separate the family with a child. How many times have you called them so far? that's cool they have you in the system now so you can just call them and say "hey, it's me ______", lol.

Fencesitter, how in the world did you reach an agent to speak to that deals w/enquiries of permanent residency and sponsorship when you live abroad? I couldn't reach anybody except at foreign affairs...that was my only choice to speak to an agent but they don't answer questions dealing w/citizenship and residency, etc. None of the permanent residency or sponsorship options lead me to an agent, onlyto the 18882422100 number. Everything lead me to look up the consulate offices closest to where I live. Which I called but they don't take phone enquiries.

It was easy. I called 1-613-944-4000 and listened to the prompts. I selected the citizenship and immigration prompt and the call was transferred. Listened to a few more prompts, selecting the one that was relevant (permanent residency). I was put on hold for about 3 minutes...then the agent answered the call...

I'm in China...as you know...I use a VPN (www.astrill.com - awesome VPN service!). I select a US server on the VPN list of servers, then in gmail I use the "Call phone" feature...calls in the US and Canada are free, and since I am connected to a server in the US, it's free (I use this all the time to call my parents and family back in Canada).

You must have selected the wrong prompt or something...try again...it's really easy...I've done this a few times now and never a problem...aside from getting a couple of a$$hole call agents...

BUT...in your situation, the call center agent will probably tell you to wait until CIC requests those two validated forms. If you send them now, they won't have any way of matching it to your original package...so you're going to have to wait until they send you the request. I'm guessing you'll only be delayed by a month or so...maybe a couple of weeks longer, but for you, that's fine, since you don't want to land until the summer of 2013...

I listened to the prompts too and selected the ones pertaining to me and each time it said, "your calll will be transferred" it was sent to another voice recording with more prompts and it never got to any agent. I will try again on monday...I will just make the call anyway to see if I can actually get an agent, haha. I swear I was going in circles. But if you were able to do it, it must work so I will definitely try again. I was going to have my sister in Canada help me make the call if I couldn't figure this out. That is great you are able to make free calls to Canada from China. I pay really cheap for unlimited calls to Canada cause my husband works at Comcast which is kindof an equivalent to Rogers in Canada. So we pay $26/ month for everything- internet, cable (which includes over 700 channels...but really don't need that much anyway) and also for our land phone line w/unlimited calling to anywhere in US and Canada. I wish that included calling to Japan too cause my brother lives there. Sometimes we talk on Skype which is free, other times he'll call me which he says is pretty cheap for him.

Thanks for the info, that´s what I thought all along, happy to hear that, because I read in this forum, that having kids is not positive.

That would be strange to think it wasn't' something positive for immigration purposes if the couple had a child together. But yah, it's good to get confirmation sometimes.

Where did you read that?? Link? I've been told by several people, CIC, various consultants, and individuals, that having a child together is the BEST form of proof that the marriage is legit. Why else would people have kids together?

No, it's definitely a BIG asset in terms of immigration and proving genuineness of marriage...

What you read may have been related to having kids as dependents...this brings the income requirement, which would make it more difficult, but NOT if you are only sponsoring your spouse and the kids are already Canadian citizens.

Thanks Fencesitter, I cannot tell you the exact posts, but one or twor people here have said that having kids is a hindrance (to my surprise), that it would be better to be a couple without kids. But you are right, it probably meant having kids as dependants, everything else would make no sense. And also I believe the VO will do its utmost best not to seperate a family.
