What mail method are people using to send packets to sponser/CIC?

I'm finishing up my packet and am hoping to have it ready to send to my husband in Canada later this week so he can finish a few things on his end and then send it in as my sponser. I'm in the US and am wondering what the best way to get this to him is? What mail method are people using? And once he gets it- which mail method should he use to send it in?

Hubby and I used FedEx because you can track it every step of the way and you are notified when someone signs for it. You are even able to see who signed for it. I think this is very comforting since you tend to spend a lot of time working on everything. :)

We also used FedEx, they can be slightly more expensive but I think they are more reliable. Make sure you use the correct address if you are using a courier rather than just Canada Post

On a different note, check the forms on the website again to confirm they have not been changed(updated) before mailing your package.

How often do they update the forms? How do I know if they've been updated? I didn't even know that was something I had to have on my radar. Ugh.

Always, always, double, even triple check the CIC website. Make it a habit. They can change things around without notifying anyone, very inconvenient and troublesome. Trust me, when you start getting into the whole process, everything will be on your radar. You've come to a great place - people on this forum are very knowledgeable and most have been through the process already.

:)

Hard to say how often, but I recall when I mailed mine in the first week of January, they updated one of the forms the next week without warning. To know if they've been updated, look at the bottom of the forms for the version(month and year). If the forms you've completed have the same month and year as on the website, then you are using the current version of the forms and can submit. If it's different, then better to complete the newly updated forms.

Once you mail the package, if there's any update after, you don't have to worry. If they need a new form completed, they will send a request.

It tells you the month they updated the forms on the page where forms are available. For e.g., see the "Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class" section under "Home > All services > Immigration & citizenship > Application forms and guides.

Redoing a form right now that updated a few days after I finished it. Thanks for that heads up! I was just going through everything to make sure its correct before copying everything and then sending it off to my husband.
Hoping someone can answer a quick question- In the Generic Application Form IMM0008 question #4 for Application Details- Is CPP Ottawa correct for my outland application from the US?

You are welcome! Yes, it's CPP-Ottawa for US citizens applying outland. See here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/offices/apply-where.asp#u

We signed our papers March 25th when I took them to Mexico. I know they updated the IMM 0008 in November 2013 which was the latest version we have. I just checked now and it look like the updated the IMM 0008 form in March 2014. GRRRRRR!!!! Well we already mailed out our application so hopefully they still accept this one. I know I checked at the beginning of March if they updated anything else so they must have updated end of March. If they want us to redo the form I'm sure they will send it back. Doesn't look like they even changed anything
