Visit the on-campus job postings website of your school often and also the International Student Centre. You can get jobs like:
library assistant, tour guide, security guard(this is a good one...you are inside a building and pretty much just ask students coming into the building after certain hours to sign in/sign out and you can study at the same time), drive the school patrol car, poll clerk(if there's elections), stuff admissions envelopes for new students(short-term job), etc.
If your school has a centre for students with disabilities, chances are they will need people who can take good notes for students with disabilities for the whole year. It's a steady job and pays well. With some Canadian experience, you will be able to find better student jobs.
If you have an idea of what you want to become(e.g. nurse, doctor, teacher, engineer, etc), you should explore job opportunities in this area(or related areas) including volunteer work. Sometimes it's not what you know but who you know that will get you the job.
Goodluck with your studies, make friends and you will love it.
