what is the temporary file?

I submitted my inland sponsorship in sep 2014. After 7 months, i still can not see my application received on cic website. I called cic today, they told me my file is still a temporary file. I will be able to c the processing status online after they set up regular file. Does anybody have idea?

I applied outland and I was able to see my ecas with my temporary number . Have a go and see if it works. My file part of being the sponsor was not completed that's why they gave me a temporary number.

Temp file number is usually the application number stating that they have received your application, they probably still have not done any work on the file, it is an acknowledgement from CIC that your application has been received. Once you get sponsor approval you will get a UCI which is the client id number.
