3B and 5C in O level (round about 65%)
and 4E's in A level ( 45%)
and 6.0 bands in Ielts ????

Enfield is totally right. They check if you are a banofide student or not. And in reaching this decision they chec your educational background and financial cover up. And if they find out that the person has poor performance during his past education or more backlogs then they think that the purpose of visit is something else other than pursuing education. So in the end they will come to the conclusion that he/she would not return to his country.
It is a very wrong assumption regarding home ties for example property and other things in home country. Good educational background make your ties stronger.

I won't totally agree with this bona fide student thingy... i've seen couple of getting visa with low academic records n 6.0 ielts bands. These guys show tons of money in their parents' back account and buttloads of land property n what not.
