It may depend on exactly where you want to teach, but I am not aware of a shortage in Canada.
This might be an opportunity to consider a career change?

Also in Middle East. There were a teacher shortage in a province a couple of years ago. Not sure still exists today or not.

If you check out the large English schools for foreign students in Toronto, which are York U and U of T, most of the students are Chinese, Saudi and Brazilians. Yes, there IS a career for English teachers here in Canada. At least while China/Brazil/Arabs are still interested in learning English in Canada.

Yes there are opportunities just like how foreign trained doctors are able to practice medicine in Toronto.

Unlike doctors whose licenses are governed by a Canadian ministry, English teachers mostly are licensed through international certifications like IELTS, TOEFL, etc. Just like IT professionals with their industry certifications (Cisco, Microsoft, PMP, A+ etc.).

Unless you're talking about teaching academic/credit English courses which is regulated by the education ministry.
