What is the difference between Generic & University categories of Study permit?

Hi friends

How do I figure out which category of study permit to apply to?

Let me give my example. I have been selected for MASc in Engg at University of Windsor for Jan 2012. It is not a member of SPP so that is ruled out in my case. (Right?)

Now, that leaves Generic and University checklists to deal with. Which one do I choose? What is the difference between the two? Processing times?

Appreciate your help! :)

Hi,

There are only 2 categories.

1. SPP - You are not eligible to apply under SPP.

2. General - You can apply under it.

Processing time is almost same. Only paper work is little bit less for the SPP's.

Thanks for your reply.

This was the check list which got me confused. There is an AUCC logo beside this of which Windsor is a member. Couldn't find any guidelines beyond that.

Hi,

1. AUCC means 'Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada.

2. SPP covers ONLY 'ACCC' which means 'Association of Canadian Community Colleges.

University of Windsor is NOT a part of ACCC, so you have to apply under General category.

Hi,

:)

http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/india-inde/visas/StudentPartnersProgram_ProgrammePartenairesEtudiants-Nov09.aspx?view=d

Only these listed schools (ACCC) qualify for SPP visa. There are also many other ACCC colleges which do not comes under SPP visa.

*University of Windsor comes under AUCC.

HI,

I am in a similar situation. I have 3 checklist here

1. SPP
2. General
3. University

I have not been able to get any kind of information about which checklist to use. I am going to Brandon University in Manitoba for a 4 year program. They haven't given me any information either. Can anyone help me here about which checklist to use.
