Hi,

I'm Interested in applying for FSWC once it is announced in Jan 2013.

Here is my detail, please validate if my points calculation is right

Language Points
=============
IELTS: L 7, R 8.5, W 7, S 7.5
Points: 6,6,4,6 = Total 22 Points

Education
========
School (10 + 2) - 12 Years
Bachelor of Arts (History) - 3 Years
Professional Diploma from NIIT : 2 Years
Master of Computer Application from Indira Gandhi National Open University India - 3 Years

I'm considering I'll get 23 Points for MCA

Experience
========
10+ Years of validated experience = So 15 points in total

Age
===
DOB : December 1976
So Age : 36, Points : 11


So Total Points = 22 + 11 + 15 + 23 = 71

I have couple of questions
1. Am i right in my points calculation?
2. Do i need to get my educational credentials validated before applying for FSWC? or this can be done after applying?
3. What is the process to get my MCA (IGNOU) educational credential validation?

new occupation list will be announced in 2013, check your occupation in that list, visit cic website regulatly.

I think that you didn't correctly add up your points:
mark 7 - 4 points,
mark 8 - 5 points and
mark 9 - 6 points.
So, you have 4+5+4+4=17 points

This is the quote from one web site, I tried to include this link in my post but the moderator said that I couldn't. Many immigration web sites still show the old system. I didn't mean to disappoint you, sorry. I have the same problem because I need 23 points from IELTS which I think is impossible to get since english is not my first language and I don't use it much. I think that the one I wrote is correct because that was the quote from canadian newspapers. It will be more clearer after January 1st.
I gave up from the FSW program because, under this new regulations, I can't get enough points unless I score 23 from IELTS which is one eight and 3 nines. I speak English well, but not THAT well.
I am researching FSTC program now where my husband might qualify, but it's new and I can't find much information, specially about things that are confusing for me......

Expression of Interest : The new Federal Skilled Worker Program ........
A major next step in building a fast and flexible immigration system will be the creation of a pool of skilled workers ready to begin employment in Canada, a commitment made in Economic Action Plan 2012.

Inspired by an approach developed by New Zealand – and now also being used in Australia – an Expression of Interest application system is the model the Government of Canada plans to use to create this pool of skilled workers.

Under an Expression of Interest system – or EOI – prospective immigrants fill in an online form indicating their “interest” in coming to a host country as permanent residents. The form can include information that relates to, for example, language proficiency, work experience and assessed education credentials.

Assigned a points score and ranked, these expressions of interest would then be entered into a pool from which candidates that best match a country’s national and regional skills needs can be drawn and invited to submit an immigration application, subject to priority processing.

In effect, the EOI form submitted by a prospective immigrant is not an application itself but only a first stage in the assessment of a potential candidate. Not all candidates who file an expression of interest are invited to apply for a permanent resident visa.

Consultations with provinces, territories and stakeholders on the development of an EOI system for Canada are underway. Of interest to CIC is the potential for a larger role for employers in the immigration program, leveraged through EOI.

As part of ongoing consultations, CIC has held roundtables with employers in a number of cities to discuss how such a system could help meet employer needs. A report on these recent discussions will be available on the consultations section of the CIC website soon.

With the elimination of the Federal Skilled Worker backlog, CIC anticipates being able to move to an EOI system that will: avoid the build-up of inventories and improve processing times; and make the immigration system more responsive to labour market needs and increase the likelihood of skilled immigrants’ success.

No, this is not what I was talking about. The name of the program is FSTC and it is for trades people - electricians, plumbers, etc. It has no points, you need score 5 from all IELTS modules and a job offer or a canadian certificate of the particular trade. It is much faster then the FSW program.

What I understand from your calculation is that you are assuming IELTS band/score is equivalent to CLB/NLCC = IELTS, therefore I believe you consider IELTS 7 points reading score = CLB/NLCC = 7 score. I think this is not correct, based on the multiple threads I see on IELTS score.
