Are they only asking this to see if Sponsor has enough money? Will they at the interview about Sponsor's last five years of employment? Will they also ask about what line of work Sponsor did beyond the last five years too?
What is even the purpose of CIC asking for the last five years of employment?

I’m pretty sure they just want to see long-term financial stability to be able to care for someone as a sponsor. They will probably ask about your present employment (if you get an interview).
