What is better, to receive proof of citizenship by E-mail or paper?

Hi,

I'm currently applying for citizenship and I found that I can receive the confirmation of citizenship by E-mail.

A friend of mine told me to avoid that as it took his uncle more than 5 weeks to receive the confirmation by E-mail and also it's better to get the paper one for the passport later.

Can someone confirm?

Please go thru the above thread. People are getting the e-certificate within 2-3 days. Paper on the other hand takes 2-3 weeks and there are additional challenges as it comes by post and there are cases where its not delivered, lost etc. Initial hiccups were there for passport with e-certificate but with now this becoming a regular feature even the passport service agents will know about e-certificate. As you are currently applying for citizenship which may take anywhere between 8-12+ months going for e-certificate makes sense as by then so many of the people would already have opted for that option since its available from 4th Jan 2023. Your friends uncle would be part of the pilot program and would have faced issues which happens with any new program rollout. Don't consider it as a regular thing.

8-12 months. <- The fact that some people got it in 4-6 months makes me crazy.
