What ID proofs required to apply for proof of citizenship for Infants born in India to canadian Citizen father? I read that we need 2 piece of ID proofs to submit proof of citizenship, But what ID proofs are required? Can I submit Indian passport as ID proof? I applied aadhar and new aadhar is getting delayed, so can i apply for indian passport with birth certificate and use that Indian passport as one of the ID proof?
Also while filling proof of citizenship canada form, there is a question that whether your child is citizen of any country other than canada? What should i answer? By birth they are born in India and they have birth certificate, but they do not haveIndian passport, so my child should be considered as indian citizen? or NO, as my kid doesnt have indianpassport?

-You provide whatever identification you have to demonstrate the child exists and has such-and-such a name, DOB, etc. You provide the birth certificate to establish parentage. You provide your proof of Canadian citizenship (passport or better citizenship certificate) to show the child should be citizen by descent. I presume birth certificate can also be considered ID for for newborn but ... check the instructions. Usually they will want at least one ID to be photo ID - again, instructions.
-Question is not whether child has an Indian passport, but whether considered a citizen of India by birth or parentage. You probably know the answer to that.

Thanks for your reply.Yeah you are right atleast one ID to be photo Id. Date of birth certificate doesn't have photo in it, so I think I can't use it as photo ID. indian passport or AADHAR are the only photo IDs I could think of, but these days aadhar is taking approx 180days for issuing new one , so can I apply for indian passport and use it as photo ID?

So even if child doesn't have indian passport, and one of his parent is indian citizen , he is considered as Indian citizen ? Or we have to enroll kid indian citizenship again ? My kids are born to naturalized canadian citizen father. So we are confused whether we can apply for indian passport and use it as photo ID. As my kids will be considered as indian citizens if they have indian passport registered, so when we apply for canada proof of citizenship they will be considered as dual citizens?

I'm not Indian, cannot answer your questions about what IDs are available there.

Same for Indian nationality law. I presume the child is an Indian citizen - and certainly will be if given an Indian passport - but, well, see above.

Would repeat what I mentioned before: contact the Canadian high commission/embassy/consulate (note CONSULAR section, not the visa/immigration section).

They will know, for the most part, what the local situation is and which documents are generally easiest to provide, what they can accept, and probably basics of the Indian citizenship issue.

I really encourage doing this and not relying just on what you read and hear from others on the internet - things change and they will be up to date and it varies from country to country (mostly in minor details, but critical ones).

Unfortunately now it can be hard to get through on phone but there may be up to date web pages etc.
