im at the end of my process but it seems to take forever..
so i was thinking.. lets say i come to canada as a tourist now. while i will be there the process will be done. will i have to fly all over to my country for the visa stamp or could i somehow do re-entry at the border?
i just wanna know my options.

thanks!

you know what good question, you can actaully stay were you are, only way you might have to travel to your visa office is if you are exempted from a visa, if you are not you have to fly to the visa office or if not you might have to fly home mail your passport and wait for it at your home country and when it arrives fly back to canada.

Do you hold an Israel passport? If so i believe you are visa-exempt to Canada, so there should be no need for a passport request or visa (although some visa-exempt countries like USA do require them for some reason, so not completely sure for you).

As long as you have the Confirmation of Permanent Resident document after application is approved, you can do a re-entry for your official "landing" at any Canada/USA land border.

Copy and paste from CIC website:

•Israel: You do not need a visa to visit or transit in Canada if you hold a national Israeli passport.

my 2 cents.

my understanding is that since you are visa exempt (and your exlusion order is expired) you can travel back to Canada (entrance is never guaranteed- what will you tell the customs officer ?) Once the Embassy sends you the COPR to your home address in Israel, you would have someone mail it to you here in Canada. You then go to the US border and re-enter Canada. Maybe someone can confirm this 8)

Having said that, you are so close. Im concerned about what your lawyer says, that you need to return to Israel.

You could always just ask your lawyer specifically why you would need to go back to Israel. Perhaps there is some reason specific to Israel processing, i'm not sure.

You could most likely even change your home address to a Canadian address, and the Israel VO would mail your COPR directly to Canada.
