Hi,

I am holding a 3 year PGWP currently. And I got admission from ryerson university in Electrical and computer engineering. What will happen to my work permit if I apply for study permit now? I really need some advice on this issue. Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I think I didn't make myself clear. I still have 2 year 9 month left on my PGWP. My masters program is for 1 year. After my masters I will still have roughly around 1 year and 9 months on my work permit. My question is can I use that 1 year and 9 months on my work permit after my study ends?

Dear All,

I appreciate the time you took for answering my question. I would like to clear this issue. I talked with CIC and here is the thing. "In the case when an individual holds 2 permit at the same time, always the latest counts. Which means, right now I am holding a PGWP which is valid or 3 years. If I get my study permit for 1 year, then I won't be able to work on that period of time (as long the study permit is issued). When I am graduated r done with my studies, if I still have time on my work permit I can work by using that. There is no forfeiting of my PGWP. PGWP is totally separate application which I deserve after I finish my studies in Canada. I hope it clears out everything.

Thanks
