Hello everyone, I'm an international student and I have been thinking when I completed my first year study and got one year for PGWP then after finishing the one year work experience I will be qualified to apply for Express Entry. But after completing one year PGWP work experience what status will I have in order to wait for the Express Entry draws until I get an invitation (which may take one year)? I mean is it possible to apply for work permit after PGWP expires or to request for another year of work permit until the express entry is settled? How is the process if someone can clarify for me how this works out?

If your work permit expires and you haven’t receive an ITA and applied for PR through EE, then you stop working. You change your status to visitor. To continue working your employer needs a LMIA (pay $1000 and show no Canadian or PR could be hired). This takes months and then if positive, you apply for a closed work permit. Again months of processing.

Also, you can only claim points of Canadian work experience if you work for ATLEAST 1 year. Make sure you get a job right after college.

If you are in the express entry pool and waiting for ITA you can apply for Bridging open work permit , that'll let you work while you wait for your decision.

And if it was negative? Do I have to leave the country?

But when you fill in the Express Entry application, it says none or less than one year experience, does it mean even without Canadian work experience I can apply for Express Entry?

Yes - if you meet the minimum requirements. You then have to have enough points to beat out other people in the pool and be selected for PR.

You can apply for Express Entry without one year Canadian experience, if eligible for FSW stream.
