Okay, you have your PR visa stamp in your passport and you are flying out to land in Canada as a new Permanent Resident. My question is, do you buy a one way ticket or a return ticket. The reason I ask is that I have been checking flights from the UK to Canada and it seems as if it is cheaper to buy a return ticket than a one way ticket.

If this is the case, and you purchase a return ticket, although you intend to land in Canada and therefore not use the return portion of the ticket, will the Canadian immigration officer look unkindly on this?

they wont know unless you show them the ticket. i dont think they will ask for your ticket.

I think there are lots that come to Canada and burn the return ticket because of the price. If you want get a refundable option that you can use towards a trip later to see family.

i'm not sure how it works for Spousal Sponsorship but some time ago u could get tax refunds for the ticket u bought to land to Canada; so don't burn it LOL

i doubt they check the ticket buy the cheaper one!!! also, it's normal for a new PR to go back to their home country to finish personal affairs stuff like that, it's them who write that in their guides...so don't worry

Who cares? Having a PR doesnt mean that you're a prisoner of Canada and will never ever leave the country... It's up to you whether you buy a one-way or return ticket. It's bad enough that some airlines still ripp you off with one-way flights. Just make sure that you're eligible to not use the return flight. In the past this was causing some trouble with some airlines...

why u r not trying for airtransat.. cheap one way flight.. Ur extra luggage u can send by cargo. that also quite cheap. i m flying by airtransat.

I'm planning, once I have my PR status, to buy a one way AIR MILES ticket.
