I am a December FSW 2014 applicant who is on paid employment. I had wanted to start something on my own (become self employed) since April last year but the fear of its effect on my application has kept me in a job I am tired of. The effect here is the teething problem associated with start up businesses including lack of funds and evidence of contracts/job done.

I will have to inform them of my change of job and I dont know if it will lead to further investigations which I am afraid I may not pass. The new field is actually what I will like to practice when I relocate to canada unfortunately no one is ready to employ you in my home country without experience. I need to get the experience by my own personal effort.

Please advice on what to do is appreciated.

NB:I have not even received Medical Request.

Hi Canadamyplace,

I think when you have recieved the PR it means you have passed the eligibility which is atleast 1 year of work experience in your NOC. Once you have atleast one year of experience then i dont think any change in the job profile will affect your application. The important thing is here is to be open and honest and inform every change to the VO so that they dont get any surprises in the end which will be bad for your file reputation.

Thanks.

Please proceed with your career as that is the right way. Change of employment has to be reported between PER and MR duration as background checks are going on and they know what you are up to and want to listen the same from you.

Change of job does not slow down your process and out of 2 incidents both of them got MR within 2 months when they reported change of employment as Visa Officer felt that they are more potential candidates for their Country.

But you need to make sure the job you are switching to does not hurt your references as if they call or send the team to your previous office to investigate your case, they don't deny. Rest all is ok.

All the best
