We received a letter from CIC requesting passport copy and 2 photos to finalize the PR application. What does the part in bold mean?

On it, it says:

Passport Copies:

You are a citizen (or citizens) of a country that is exempted from obtaining a visa to visit Canada under

Regulation 190 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations. You are therefore required to

send only a copy of the photo page of your passport and of any pages indicating a validity extension

or change to your personal information.

If you have a passport extension they want a copy of that. Most likely if you do not know what it is then you do not have one.

Simply provide a copy of your passport bio page.

Congrats!

In some countries when a passport expires, they simply endorse the passport by putting a stamp stating "The validity of this passport has been extended to XYZ date". This used to be an old practice. Most countries would now simply cancel the old passport and issue a new one. If the expiry date of your passport mentioned on the identity page is still valid, that means you would not have such a stamp and need not worry about it.

Thanks guys!

Sakamath, thanks for the clarification, that makes sense.
