It's a standard medical examination. The doctor has you strip down to your underwear, listens to your heart, takes your blood pressure, has you read an eye chart and asks you about anything that is out of the ordinary that they might notice. In case there is a problem, they may defer you to a specialist for a specialist report. You also need lung x-rays as well as you pee in a cup and donate a little blood for their tests.

You can find a form here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/medic/form/index.asp called IMM5419E which is the checklist of the doctor doing your examination and so you can see on there what they test for.

I did my medical and it wasn't really like the above so thought I'd let people know here.

We turned up for our appointment, waited well over an hour to be seen, got told to weigh and measure our heights ourselves, the doctor came in and checked my blood pressure then sent us across the road to give a urine and blood sample. After that we did a chest xray and that was it. All in all only around 2-3 minutes of examination but with waiting times it took about 3 hours.

I guess they only really care about the urine/blood/xray results.
