I received today in the mail what I hope is my FBI clearance envelope. I have heard that if I open it, then it is not longer valid. How can I be sure that this is the clearance and not some request for more information? It is an A4 (Letter paper) sized manilla envelope and when I hold it up ot the light all I can see is that there is 1 sheet of paper inside. Please advise me
1) if this is really the police clearance
2) if I can open it

Crossing my fingers...

Re: What should the FBI clearance envelope look like?

Huh, I opened mine and made a copy for myself before sending the original with the application. Unfortunately, I can't remember what color the envelope was. I think it was the size of a sheet of letter sized paper folded in half, but I am not sure since it has been several months since I received it.

Our FBI Cert came in an 8.5 x 11 manila envelope. You can open it and you should open it.

I opened mine too

My husband opened his too. There was only 1 sheet of paper inside and when you photocopy it, watermarks show up all over the copy saying something like UNAUTHORIZED COPY.

Haven't heard any issues from CIC about it. :)

HeatherUSA is totally right about the envelope size. I got mixed up because my other police report from another country came in the half-page size, with the folded sheet inside. Oops. Her comment jarred my memory, and mine was a big, light brown envelope too.
