I am a permanent resident of the US so I can enter Canada with out a visa.
My wife who is under the live-in-caregiver program (economic category) sponsored (submitted application August 2011) me to join her, that means if approved, we will have our PR at the same time. I had my medical examination last April 2014 and submitted all required documents in June 2014. But up to now CIC never made any decision yet. My friends, who submitted their docs and had medical exam same time with me, are all landed immigrants now that is why I worry a lot, "why the processing of our papers are being delayed?"
The only thing I can think of right now is that I might have overstayed in canada since I frequently cross the border by land. My understanding was if I stay in canada for say, 4 months and leave, when I re-enter canada again in just a few days, and stay in canada again in 4 months, the 6 months will be re-set, thus, I will have another six months and therefore I did not overstay.
I have been doing my research about this topic but up to now I havn't seen a clear-cut policy. Is it cumulative 6 months in a 12-month period? or 6 months upon your last entry? Please help.
