For over three years I have had trouble with Sprint cellular when I visit Fort St John, BC. They either cut off my service as soon as I get on the airplane in Houston, TX or they cut if off right after I arrive in Canada. Even when I tell them I am going and pay for international roaming calls and text both in and out of Canada they cut met service off. Only one trip it worked for a couple of weeks before it stopped. So no matter what plan I use or settings, my phone becomes a coaster. I even tried just setting it for no data roaming but the calls wouldn't work.
What do you do for a phone when you are visiting? Once I got a Telus pay per use phone and it was expensive.

If your only visiting go with pre-paid. I have koodo pre-paid - $15 monthly and you buy data and min. Best deal for me and they're owned by telus so good coverage.. I think theres also fido but I'm unsure of there coverage up there.

It depends on if you need a phone. I'm probably more on the extreme end of things, but for the couple years I was living with my fiance in Canada, I didn't have a cell phone. I never needed it. I would message my family through my fiance's phone, and I had an iPod that we would face time every day with. It was kind of nice.

I too can vouch for koodo prepaid. Decent coverage in and around Ontario (where I was visiting but also made cell calls Canada wide) and I have made and received International calls with proper line clarity and sound. Data was consistent enough just minor choppyness which was nothing to really get my feathers ruffled about.

My husband just put in a new sim card from Bell in his iphone and we are paying month to month and can cancel at any time.

If you have t-mobile in Houston I'd highly suggest switching to them. I'm currently with t-mobile and with every plan they have you can use your 4G data for no charge, unlimited calling and unlimited texting while you're in Canada and in Mexico!

I stay in Canada but travel back and forth to the states for work and school so I needed something that works both ways and this is perfect!
