What do the dates on the V-1 Visitor visa mean?

my Thai wife's V-1 visa says date of issue = 10/2/2011 and date of expiry = 9/5/2011. Does that mean she may enter at any time within these dates but must return before 9/5/2011 or does it mean that she may enter at any withing this period and stay for the next 6 months past the expiry date? Thank you in advance. I am Canadian.

She may enter anytime on or after Feb 10, 2011, and on or before May 9, 2011. As to how long she can stay after she enters Canada depends on how much time is granted her by the officer at the port of entry.
