Hi Guys,

I wanted to know how we can address and satisfy immigration with our first application.

I mean, can we address all the issues initially instead of having the headache of refusal and reapplication and letter of explanation?

To explain the case in detail:
My spouse wants to do a Masters in Professional Accounting. His profile is as below:
  • He completed B.Sc in Biotechnology from SRN Adarsh College, Bangalore (Bangalore University) in 2005.
  • He then pursued to do his MBA at the University of Wales, Cardiff, UK and completed in 2008.
  • He joined Jubliant Biosys (Bangalore) as Executive - Business Development and worked for almost 2 years.
  • He had a strong passion to do UPSC, and so he moved to Delhi to study UPSC, however, he could not successfully score the required points he came back to Bangalore and joined Advinus Therapeutics (Bangalore) as Assistant Manager - Business Development and worked there for almost 2.5 years.
  • Then he joined GVK Biosciences (Hyderabad) as Deputy Manager - Sales & Marketing and worked for almost 1.5 years.
  • Then he joined Syngene International, A Biocon Group (Bangalore) as Manager - Business Development and worked for almost 3 years.

In short, he has an overall professional experience of 10 years in Life Sciences companies.

He has efficiently handled Business Development activities across various domains including Strategic Planning, Market Research, Competitive Analysis, Pricing, Financial & Revenue reports compilation, Proposals compilation, Customer requirements and working closely with the IP, Supply Chain, Scientific teams and other support departments to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. His professional role gave the exposure of working and interacting with global clients mainly from the US and Europe. As part of his roles, he frequently traveled to the US and Europe for meeting clients, discussion on new and existing business opportunities. He has procured a broad understanding of work culture, ethics, and dynamics. He has been recognized within my organization for the effective building of customer base and many other appreciations.

Though he has rich 10 years’ experience primarily in the management domain and his exposure to finance and accounting was minimal. During his professional journey and as part of his role, he had the opportunity of closely working with senior finance colleagues (Corporate controller & CFO) where he regularly had to take their inputs in structuring and finalizing many of the business plans. He invariably felt the importance of their role which was a mandatory requirement to make informed and responsible decisions for organizational growth. He always had this urge and passion to undertake a good Master program in Accountancy and Finance so that he can target a higher designated job in the organization.

Please let me know your thoughts and a few things to target and to be taken care of at the very first stage of the application.

I appreciate any advise.

Thanks

Don’t think a masters in professional accounting actually exists as a degree. Does he want to be a CPA? Think in general there will be a concern that he already has an MBA and is a leadership position at many companies why would it make sense at this point in his career to drop everything and study abroad. He is already at a management level and would have had exposure to finance courses even if he isn’t a CPA. Becoming a CPA would be an unnecessary career change at this point. You can certainly apply but I think you may struggle to convince CIC that he is a genuine student.

Actually, he wanted to take up this course much earlier, but due to some reason, he was not able to implement it. He is keen on switching his profile to IT management and learn some modules like Economics, Business laws, Auditing, Taxation, Advanced Financial & Management Accounting, Statistics and change his steam of work which is more exciting for him than what he is doing currently. He could have opted for P.hD in the same field, but have no interest in further studying in the same domain, he chose this course which doesn’t need much accountancy background. And this course is a pathway to CPA as well, which he thinks is an advantage and how this CPA is a valuable addition to anyone’s life and career. Isn't there any chance for a person to change his career at some point and do what he desires and passionate about? Should he do forever whatever he is been doing for the last couple of years? Why is that not encouraged :( Can we convince this somehow?

I really want to know how we tackle this MBA and 10 years of experience. Any thoughts are highly appreciated. The MBA didn't have any of the subjects that this new course is offering.

He will definitely get admission to a university aswell as study visa. Don't hear what others say. Go with your dream. He has very good academic, professional and travel history. So getting a visa is not difficult since he has once returned to india at the end of his studies in UK and his work experience are India. A good SOP similar to what you have written here can definitely do wonders for him.
