Took me 24 hours to get call centre job after landing in Montreal. After tax salary 1600 cad. Rent 540 for one bed flat close to downtown, transport pass - 77 cad, food 350 CAD, phone and internet - 100 cad. Rest saved successfully. Irregular work hours, occasional racists on phone calling you f*king b*tch or not willing to talk to you because you do not have canadian accent. But better than cleaning toilets.

CLEANING TOILETS DOESN'T MAKE YOU LESS OF A PERSON! IT'S a DECENT JOB. A lot of people own a franchise of CLEANING TOILETS---they survive and succeed in CANADA. Just saying!

Any jobs are accepted initially so they are called the "SURVIVAL JOBS"

If you own this kind of business here, most of the time you manage and do the cleaning as well! This is a better paying job by the way than flipping burger patties.

Well if you own the business and you do the cleaning by yourself - then it means that you're not managing your business/or your staff well.

Don't get me wrong, i do support the idea of starting a small business ofcourse- it can be much more rewarding than working for others.

Each one's preferences differ when it comes to survival jobs, but it doesn't matter as long as each one is happy with what he's doing.
Although i'm not really a fan of survival jobs, but would consider them ofcourse if i really had to.

Cleaning toilets in Edmonton pays 16/hour -- there are people with college degrees who make less, and many of the people who clean toilets are saving money and paying off mortgages. Myself, I've never looked down on people who do dirty work, and there's nothing to be ashamed of in it.

Do you think there are start up job so i can some how manage to be in IT, (I appreciate all jobs and don't look down on any profession - No offence to any one) But i just be closer to computers and IT as i am more passionate about it..
