Hello all, new here.

Did my EE profile a while back, and got a 425 CRS.

One think I noticed, is that I got that score applying with my wife going with me. If I had applied without her going with me, my score would be 441.

That got me thinking.

Do I have a shot of getting a PR with that score? Federal or Ontario?

Can I change my profile to state that she will not go with me? We are planning of, if invited, me going first, settling in, and she and my son joining me later on.. 6 months to a year maybe.

If possible, what are the downs of doing that? I mean, will my son have access to schools? Will my wife have access to healthcare if needed?

Thanks in advance!

You might have a shot with 441.
You can change her to non accompanying. The downside is you might be separated for a year or more as it takes longer to process a sponsorship application.

Thanks mate!
During this year period, she can travel and visit me for short periods right? I means, she would still be able to secure a visitor's Visa during the sponsorship process?

Cheers,

Yes that's correct, 425 is a shot in the dark my friend. Bust just like ContactFront have mentioned, spousal sponsorship might take about a year or more. You also might take in to consideration your LICO, you will need to meet 1(You)+1(Spouse)+(kids).

They can also apply for a tourist if they satisfy CIC that they have enough ties to go back to their home country.

best of luck!

Thanks for the help.

For what I read, it is not Ilegal to submit the profile with her as not going with me. They even have a separate question, asking if you are married, and if He/She is going with you..

I bet that there are tons of profiles with wife not comming just for the points right?

I'm really hoping to get an ITA from Ontario nominee program... I think that is my safest bet, as well as looking for jobs in Canada... but that may be harder than spending more than a year distant from my wife.. lol

Draw today was at 457. My score is waaay too low... shot in the dark indeed.

HCP is a complete black box. Don't put too much hope on that. You should look for other ways to boost your score.
Ontario is more focused on workers and sp french speaking and also HCP depends upon ur NOC... its not just random ...

If I retake IELTS and get max points, I would increase my score in 6 points.

The way I see it, my only chance would be to get a job... but from what I've seen, that is as hard as it gets, hitting a job from outside Canada..

Other options would be: learn French or earn a Master's (pref. in Canada).

One more issue, bu the 27th of feb, I'll lose 5 points due to my birthday...

Getting cloudy...

What about a certification or diploma? Make sure it's accredited first I guess. My sister was able to hit 453 ( can't remember exactly) with only her 4 year degree (3 years equiv) almost maxed out IELTS points and 3 years working experience.. She got points as well by having me as a sibling living in Canada.
