What are the chances they might call your employer?

Hello,

Firstly I agree that this question is pretty vague and it depends from case to case. But in general I would like to know what are the chances that immigration officers call your employers. The company which I am currently working with is a small scale. The manager initially hesitated to give me a reference letter but then he realised that I might not do any work if he denies my request. So he reluctantly gave me one as if he was doing me a favor. He is a selfish guy who does not like to help with anything outside work. But anyways.. so now I am afraid that if they call him up he might drop the ball and refuse to cooperate. So what are the chances that they might actually call and what are the chances of rejection of application in such cases?

Thanks.

Yes they might call your company. What you can try to support your cause is to get some references from your suppliers or customers in order to confirm, that you work for that company.
Other than that good luck.

Actually I am a contractor. So I don't really work for the company but it's all clearly mentioned in the letter. I hope he just abides to that facts if and when they call him. Nothing more I expect.

What are the chances of emailing ? I understand that it could happen as wlel, but what happens if our manager leaves the company after we submit the e-APR? The official email id provided in the letter would not work then. Would they call and cross verify if at all email bounces back?

These days it is nothing difficult to check company website or its registration in some local register.
Then all they need to do is to call them and recheck.
Of course, people are changing in companies and just because somebdy has left, it does not mean that your reference letter is not genuine.

if you have doubts that he's not going to cooperate, furnish other documents as well, like any increment letters, pay slips, any other documentation that showcases you have been working with that organization. They may not give a call if you provide a lot of details. This is just speculation though.

I have contract agreement letters. I think I can attach one just to strengthen my case. If I add a lot of documents, immigration people might think that I am trying to camouflage something. They are always one step ahead.

A lot of people do provide a lot of details, so do not worry on that part. Anything extra doesn't make your application weak. The only concern is that you provide a minimum of 'reference letter' as per the requirements.
