What are the accepted travel documents?

Hi,

Without boring you with the details, I'm not able to get a passport from my original country and I travel using a temporary travel document from another country. I have used the details of the travel document when I filled up the expression of interest profile. I've received an ITA recently and I feel quite unsure whether the travel document will be accepted or not. I searched through CIC portal but there is no much information about that. Anyone been in or know about a similar situation? And could you please let me know how to contact CIC with such question? The website seems to indicate you can only call them from within Canada and there is no general enquiry form.

Thanks in advance!

Confused.

I found the answer and adding it here to help future applicants who might be in a similar situation. ;)

I've contacted the Canadian immigration office in my country and confirmed with them that's there is no issue in placing PR visa on a recognised travel document (i.e. not a passport). I have also checked with a lawyer in Canada who said any travel document recognised by UN can be used. There is a limited list of travel documents that are not acceptable by the Canadian government because they are not reliable and the list can be found on CIC website (sorry seems I can't post links in replies).

What matters is the expiry date of the travel document. The immigration office advised me to have at least one year validity when the application is about to be finalised.
