What are my options? Your suggestions are much appreciated

Hello everyone,

I would really appreciate your opinion on my post.

I am a freelancer and I work and make all my money online and I would love to immigrate to Canada. My question is: What are my options for immigration?

I can see that under the skilled worker program I need to have a job offer, but I do not need a job, I plan to continue what I am doing online even when I am in Canada, or perhaps open a small business or something, and I've been told to forget about the Self-employed category as it's complicated and takes lots of time to process.

So for now, what are my options? is getting a job offer the only way to immigrate to Canada at the time being? and if so, how would I get a job offer?

Any opinions are much appreciated.

You do not qualify for the self employment class based on the information provided. (And yes - this stream is very complicated and takes many years).

There is a federal Entrepreneur class. However it's closed to application right now and requires that you make a $800K investment in Canada and have a net worth of $1.6M. You could check out the provincial Entrepreneur classes if you have a significant amount of free cash you can put into a business here.

Getting a job offer is the only option I see for you based on the information you've provided. Unfortunately there's no easy route for getting a job offer in Canada. All you can really do is look at job boards such as monster.ca and The Canadian Job Bank - and apply if you see jobs you qualify for. Expect not to hear back from the majority of employers. Many employers aren't willing to consider foreign candidates for open positions because of the amount of time and paperwork it takes to try to hire them (employers have to prove they advertised the job and were unable to find a Canadian to hire for the role).

You don't say where you're from or what age you are. Depending on the answer - there could be one or two more options.

Regarding the Entrepreneur class, unfortunately I don't have that much money

I am from Jordan (the middle east), 28 years old and married. My wife has quite a good full-time position in an international NGO, but i'm not sure if that would help.

I do understand what you said employers, that's exactly what I was thinking, why the hell would they waste their time and money to get a foreigner while they can get a Canadian without all the hassle. But how other people do it? are they simply highly qualified and highly needed?

Another thing, if I get a job offer, does that automatically entitle my wife for a PR and vice versa?

Would studying in Canada be an option? I already have a bachelor's degree, would it be possible for me to study something for 1 year or so and then apply for PR? would that help?

If one of you gets a job offer and you apply for PR then the other person will be included in the PR application by default.

You didn't provide details about what you did online in your original post.

Now that you have - yes, translators are on the list. Having said that, self-employed is a difficult and long route. I'd recommend you speak with a qualified immigration or consultant if you're planning go to this route to confirm you qualify before you apply.
