Hi all,

Does anyone here know what are the chances of study permit approval for students from Malaysia. I recently sent my application directly to High commission in Spore by mail.
Standard processing time is 45 days ; so far it has been 25 days.

The only way I could track my mail was thru Poslaju, I emailed the embassy and I am just getting standard auto response email .

I am just a bit worried bcos I am returning to N.America after 7 years in Malaysia. Previously I studied in Minnesota, USA. I am already 35 , so I am just really not sure about this Canadian visa this time . I had provided proof of sufficient funds for at least one academic year, both tuition + expenses.

Anyone here returning to Canada or USA after spending some time in Msia or other countries.
Visa office is in Singapore.

Anyone here with similar situation ,doesnt matter from Malaysia, India, Pakistan, Philipines...Indonesia.

You might be rejected for home ties. hope your financial statement was good and you gave property documents or business or investment in Malaysia and also a SOP. As you have applied lets hope for the best and be prepared for the worst.

Dipta,

I got a letter from the embassy and visa was rejected on family ties, and financials.

I had only shown 1 year of financial support although my diploma program duration is 2 yrs. But this could be worked out if not now but in 6 months perhaps.

All I could prove now is my dad who is a sponsor has his own property in Malaysia, my dad now works as a security personnel and receives some pension from govt. As on oldest male heir in the family I have to return from Canada after my studies and take care of my ageing dad. In malaysia actually, I have more security as I have shelter over my head. And also my brother and his de-facto spouse have a property on their name as well.

This time i could produce all property docs and financials for 2 years.

Would this be a good reason for me to apply again.

What is SOP btw. Thanks for your comments.

Yes I think this time your financial condition and also home ties will be proved. SOP means Statement of Purpose. It is needed to clarify different questions which may rise to Visa officer. Please give your sponsors income source pro like employment letter, trade license, tax papers etc

If your case has nothing complicated like previous study no matching or you were out of country for many years, sponsoring someone else than first blood etc etc then you won't probably need SOP. You can find the questions or what topics to include in SOP by searching the forum.
