Are there any issues for a Canadian PR holder to work remotely for few months in US (US status: H4) on a Canadian job with payroll in Canada?
Has anyone done this? Thanks!

H4 EAD is required for a LCA for some job in US. Canadian employer paying in Canadian payroll going to Canadian account and remote work in US - don't see a problem here.

That's indeed a problem. You can't work on H4 (without EAD) in the US. It doesn't matter whether the employment is within or outside the US, or whether the payroll is in USD or CAD.

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking too

If this was so easy, there won't be any frustrations among H4 people for not being able to work. All will find a job in India or some contract from countries outside US, get paid in a different currency and work from US happily. Here is the legal reference for this..

Also, you need to report worldwide income to IRS while filing taxes, so there is no chance of getting pass from this from US government eyes anyways.

Just dont look at the H1b or TN community, to tell you the truth its not very uncommon practice for the snowbird community. There are tons of Canadians who move south during winters and what can I say further, yeah its true all of them are "retired".

Two questions to be asked
Is it legal.......everyone knows the answer.
Has anyone done this........you bet.

thanks everyone
The potential situation is to do this for couple of months and then move to Canada. This is obviously not a long term option
