Hello! I am Laxmi Narayanan K.S from India. I have applied for MEng in Chemical Engineering in both Western and Dalhousie University for Summer 2018. I am pretty confident i will be offered a seat in both universities. My confusion is in Western the degree is a one year with three terms and in Dalhousie it is Two years with 8 courses. Both are project based. I read that after study i will get work permit based on the duration of my previous study and for one year degree i will get one year work permit and for two years and more the duration is three years of work permit. Is this true? and also i am confused why both the degree cost same tuition fees irrespective of duration.

Hello

My son is also planning for Masters in Canada. Can you please let me know the requirements in both the above Universities for Masters? We are from Palakkad, Kerala and completed his B-Tech (Mechanical) from Amrita University. He has two years work experience in Qatar.

Requirements for a degree in a university is the easiest thing anyone can get. Just go to the universities website and search the requirements for the specific degree. Stuff like accurate tuition fees, ancillary fees, off-campus accommodation help those ain't easily available.

Yes you should look up the PGWP if you are studying Canada with the goal of securing permanent residency. Yes I would suggest that a 2 year degree would be better because you would be able to get a 3 year work permit (pgwp). The universities are obviously pricing per degree and not by course. Since the degree is project based that may be one of the reasons that this is possible.

You're likely to get 1.5 years stay back for the 3 semester program.
