WES outcome - Dual Bacherlor's Degree (4 yrs) NOT Two Bachelor's Degrees (4 yrs)

Any thoughts on how to enter this into the e-APR. The first degree is for 3 years and the second degree is for 2 years.

Hi Rahul,

I didn't get a response from anyone on this forum about how to proceed with this, so I had to go ahead and take a chance with my education history selection.

I ended up putting my “Dual Bachelor’s Degree (4 years)” as a single item under ‘Education History’, as if you wanted to put two separate entries, you would have to use the same WES reference number.

I made sure that I included a note about the reason I made this choice in my ‘letter of explanation’:

Due to WES assessing both degrees under a single line item, I have entered my qualification as a single entry in the ‘Education History’ section. There is no selection available in the drop-down for “Dual Bachelor’s Degree (4 years)”, so I have selected “Bachelor’s degree or other programs (three or more years) at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute”.​

If I was to add the two degrees as two separate items under ‘Education History’, I would still not be able to select “Dual Bachelor’s Degree (4 years)” (as it is not available in the drop-down list). Therefore, I have selected the lower-points option (single entry), as I do not wish to over-claim on the ‘Education History’ section.​

This worked for me as I didn't need the points (it's not really many more points for 2 degrees anyway), but I'm not sure how close you are to the cut-off.

I received my CoPR last week, so I guess CIC was okay with this approach.

The issue is that in the pre-ITA I entered it as 2 separate line items (selecting bachelor's for each of them). If I change them to a single line item now, my score will drop from 461 to 429. Still well above my ITA cutoff (May 17, 2017) of 415.

Also, will CIC question why the change in approach from initially listing it as 2 separate items to a single item in the e-APR?

My situation is similar to your. I have done a Bachelor of Commerce degree (3 years) and a part time Post Graduate Diploma (1 Year). My WES evaluation summary is "Bachelor's degree (three years) and bachelor's degree (four years)".

Can you please tell me how did you proceed in this situation. Did you select TWO OR MORE DEGREE CERTIFICATE, DEGREE , DIPLOMA OPTION?

i have a query for the same, my WES report came today and it says:

"Bachelor's degree (three years) and bachelor's degree (four years)"
I have done my Bachelor in Commerce from Delhi University (3 YEARS) and Post graduate diploma in Business Mgmg (2 YEARS)
So while entering educational details in EE profile should I enter my both degrees separately in 2 columns or just highest degree and mentionioning Bachelor degree, 3 or more year program in the level of education column. Please suggest.

The issue is that in the pre-ITA I entered it as 2 separate line items (selecting bachelor's for each of them). If I change them to a single line item now, my score will drop from 461 to 429. Still well above my ITA cutoff (May 17, 2017) of 415.

Also, will CIC question why the change in approach from initially listing it as 2 separate items to a single item in the e-APR?

Therefore, choice is between showing it as two bachelors degrees separately or showing it as as a professional degree (447 points) since law is considered to be a professional degree by CIC. I could attach the certificate of practice to strengthen my case.

Hi LK - interested to hear your thoughts on where you landed on this? In the same boat with a B Com / LLB from UQ - putting it as one degree has me at 447 pts (on the fringe it seems)

I have provided the same explanation in that application too. I'm yet to hear from Ontario. If you can spend some time, I would recommend you apply to IQAS. They evaluate 5 year law degree as a professional degree. They do take 10-12 weeks though. I've also applied to IQAS just to have my ground covered.

LoE is Letter of Explanation. It's a simple letter explaining your profile. Makes it easier for the visa officer to assess your profile.
NOI is Notification of Interest. This is issued by provinces who want you to apply for their PNP. In my case, Ontario sent me the NOI. For Ontario and some other provinces, you can only apply for PNP if you have been given a NOI.
I would suggest that while you wait at 440, get your degree assessed by IQAS. In case the points don't drop in the next two months (anything can happen, right?), at least with IQAS you can get your 447 in 2-3 months time.

I have received a notification that WES are putting together a 'formal response' to my question regarding this/possible reassessment and updated wording on a new report.

Will let you guys know - this may well be setting a valuable precedent for others (regardless of whether the outcome is positive). My consultant has actually recommended I try my luck if I receive an ITA in the coming weeks - if the outcome is not good, then I will likely receive a no before July 13th anyway and then I can reapply with extra points from 1 years work in my NOC occupation.

Final question - I would assume I'd need to repay the processing fee, but the 'Right of Permanent Residence' Fee: would I need to pay that again if I'd already pre-paid it before approval of my PR application?
