I have the same question like Amy.

I have changed my surname recently last month. So it means all my documents has got my old name in it.

I am planning to apply passport with new name on it. Meanwhile I wanted to complete ECA which doesn't need passport.

In ECA application, should I include my old name and request to issue ECA Certificate addressing my name name or???

ECA will have the name as it appears on your educational credentials.

@Asivad Anac:

If my old name is referred in educational credentials, how will cic acknowledge and link it with my new name on the passport?

While entering my personal details in WES profile, I got a separate field that allowed me to enter old names (if applicable).

Doesn't it mean Applicant's name is the new/current name, whereas the old name refers to the one present in documents. I can show a Government Gazette Proof about the details of my name change to WES about the case and hence insisting WES to address the certificate on my new name.

You can certainly try sending in proof to WES asking them to update the ECA with your new name but that sounds more laborious than attaching the same proof to your post ITA application along with an LOE highlighting that all the documents attached with that PR application are for the very same person even though the name has changed recently. Perfectly acceptable.

And that field means exactly as you have understood. So CIC has a reference point when they look at your name change evidence.

Thank you Avinac.

I just started an application with WES. With your previous post, I wrote a note on their help desk asking about the same. Hopefully WES will respond back soon.

Not required.

Even Bachelors is optional. If your Masters has been provisionally evaluated as Masters, just get ECA done for that. CIC awards points for the highest degree alone UNLESS you are claiming "Two or more degrees, diplomas or certificates".
@Asivad Anac : I have done my Bachelors(Full Time) and Masters(WILP) degree. I created WES account with both the education details and sent the sealed documents of both Bachelors and Masters to WES under one application and it costed me $322.05. In this case do i need to pay extra for evaluating both the documents or they will consider evaluating only the highest degree - Master's? Also please advice whether i will be acquiring 126 points based on Master's degree?

Thanks!

If you've asked them to evaluate both, they will do so. And you can claim 126 points if your overall Canadian equivalency is Masters degree.

Thanks Asivad! So ideally i should have sent only the Masters to WES for evaluation but then happened to send both the degrees. Can i send an email to WES stating that to ignore evaluating my BE degree and proceed with only Masters? as i came across few threads stating that evaluating 2 degrees is unnecessary and it may take much time from their end also to complete and send the results.

And regarding payment, whether i will be charged again for sending to evaluate 2 documents?

Thanks!

Thanks a lot Asivad.

Actually I had checked their evaluation tool but there is no option like 3 years diploma :( There is either Bachelor's or Master's option available. However, I checked more on WES website and I could find the best match there - "state boards: technical education(Diploma in Engineering)". But I am not able to match it exactly with CIC. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp

On CIC website they have 3 years diploma mentioned twice which is confusing.

1. Under Bachelor's degree - "Diploma (3 years)"
2. Under Secondary school - "High School Diploma"

So, which one would 10+3 qualify under :-\

#1 adds 8 points to my CRS score whereas the other adds only 2 ???

Please help.

Cheers,
Amy

Hi Guys.
I have a question regarding Canadian work experience.
I was working for the university under the NOC 2171 from may 2014 to April 2015. During this time I was on a study but was able to work Full Time as the work was on campus. I accumulated a total of 1220 hours of work. After April 2015, I got my completeion letter and started working for a company and have been working full time since april 30, 2015.
Technically I have more than a year canadian experience if I include the work I did on campus while studying full time.
Would CIC consider work on campus under NOC 2171 as canadian work experience. Or would I have to wait for another 6 months in order to get canadian work experience.

Since you've already sent them everything, let them process and send out your ECA. Any instructions to the contrary midway through the process will only serve to delay the process further while they confirm your request. You won't be charged anything more than what you've already paid them.

If you got your Diploma after 10th grade, that won't qualify as Bachelors. That would be a High School diploma.

If you get your Diploma after 12th grade, that won't qualify as 3 year Diploma. That would be equivalent to Bachelors.

Ya.. Makes sense.. Thanks Asivad ! Have to give a pass to this, not worth the pain of the entire process just for 2 points :(

I have sent a query to WES regarding the same, However expect the same answer.

Thanks again.

Amy

I have the same issue. My mother's name in the education certificate is different from my passport. I have a gazette proof for it. Will they accept it. Please let me know. Thanks.
