Since WES evaluated by study as 2 post secondary degrees and both the institutions are recognized and one of which is 3 years long (WES equivalent is 4 yrs Bachelors degree), hence i am claiming points for Two-post secondary school programs.

Hi All,

I have B.Sc and M.Sc degrees from Andhra University, I have got WES assessed them and the following are the results.

B.Sc (Major - Science) - Bachelor's degree (four years)
M.Sc (Major - Computer Science) - One year of graduate study

Now, I have huge confusion over filling EE profile, For B.Sc I have selected Bachelor's degree as Canadian equivalent degree.

For M.Sc what i have to select? Can I select

"University-level credential at the Master's level"

or
"Two or more post-secondary program credentials AND at least one of these credentials was issued on completion of a post-secondary program of three years or longer"

or
"One-year post-secondary program credential"
Masters is '2 years full time study' but in your case it is :

"Two or more post-secondary program credentials AND at least one of these credentials was issued on completion of a post-secondary program of three years or longer"

In your earlier post you said that WES evaluated your education as:

B.Sc (Major - Science) - Bachelor's degree (four years)
M.Sc (Major - Computer Science) - One year of graduate study

Is this correct? Or did you leave something out?

The above is not 2 post secondary programs. It is only one post secondary program. One year of graduate study is not counted as a program. Is there part of your WES report that you have left out?

Hi scylla,

Yes, WES report consists of whatever I mentioned for individual credentials and also only Bachelor's Degree of 4 years as overall Canadian Equivalency

A little illustration on how I have selected by education in EE profile.

A graduate study is a study that you pursue in a graduate school and a graduate school is a school that awards advanced academic degrees (i.e. master's and doctoral degrees) with the general requirement that students must have earned a previous undergraduate (bachelor's) degree.

And

CIC says that if you have 2 or more post-secondary program credentials (*not degrees awarded) AND at least one of these credentials was issued on completion of a post-secondary program of three years or longer"

A graduate study is always a post-secondary study but WES recognized this as equivalent to 1 year (might have recognized this as a graduate degree if length of the program is more than 2yrs) and i have another post-secondary credential which is 3 years in length which WES recognized as Bachelors degree. Hence, i have chosen "Two or more post-secondary program credentials" which gives me 119 points for my foreign education.

Also,

From the link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp. they have explanation towards ECA results conversion.

Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees. (Important notice: One must be for a program of three or more years.)

ECA assessment results:

A three-year or more certificate, diploma, or degree

PLUS any of the results in the sections below (not including secondary/high school), or:

Post-Bachelor's Certificate
Post-Bachelor's Diploma
Graduate Certificate
Postgraduate certificate
Postgraduate Diploma
two-year Postgraduate Diploma, specializing in [name of discipline]
one-year Postgraduate Certificate in [name of discipline]
Study Toward a Master's Degree

Isn't it saying that study towards Master's degree + any 3 or more years program, certificate, diploma will give you 119 points.

In my case it is 'One year graduate study' which is equal to study towards Master's degree + Bachelor's Degree (4 years) would fetch me 119 points, right?

I am at the same situation. If I understand, "one year of graduate study" does not make any points because it must be written exactly as ECA table conversion to count. I have found some cases in FSW2014 forum where CIC returned the application because of this 1 point missing.

I have received my WES report today and i'm confused as to what category i should choose in my education

BSc = Bachelor's degree (four years)

Diploma = Completion of an undergraduate certificate-level program

Hence, should i choose "Two or more Certificates........" or is it only a "Three years bachelors?'"

Please help,

Pasindu.

I am also in the same boat. WES has evaluated my M.A. degree from a recognised university as " One year of graduate study". I believe there are no points for that as per the details from WES website below:

Educational Terms

Used In WES Evaluations

Bachelor’s Degree - The first university degree usually
awarded upon completion of approximately three or four
years of full-time study.
Diploma - A qualification awarded on completion of a two or
three-year post-secondary program.
Earned Doctorate (Ph.D.) - Highest academic degree,
awarded on the basis of graduate-level course work,
examinations, research and dissertation.
First Professional Degree - The first professional degree in a
given field (such as Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Dentistry)
is usually awarded on completion of professional study. This
title alone may not be sufficient to allow the bearer to practice
in Canada, as additional licensing requirements must be met.
High School Diploma - Awarded on completion of secondary study.
Major - An area of academic concentration or specialization.
Master’s Degree - A post-baccalaureate degree in a
specified field, awarded on the basis of completion of
coursework (usually 1-3 years of study) and often a written
thesis or project.
Post-Secondary - An institution or program of study that
requires the completion of secondary study prior to admission.

Professional Study - Study and training to become a
practitioner of a specific profession, such as medicine,
veterinary medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, optometry, etc.

Dear Experts

My credential summary is as bellow:

"Canadian Equivalency Summary
Master's Degree

Credential Analysis
1. Credential Authentication
Canadian Equivalency: Bachelor's Degree (four years)
2. Credential Authentication
Canadian Equivalency: One year of graduate study"

Could i claim Master's degree points (126) ? I am a bit confused because Master's level credential authentication says "one year of graduate study" not "post graduate study".

Please confirm me.
Thanks

Hi,

I have a Masters from USA and Bachelors from India. Do I have to get the ECA done for both degrees or just for the last degree that is my Masters from USA ?

Greetings all !

Could you spend few minutes to clarify my problem ? In my WES ECA I have the following statement "bachelor's and master's degree". In this case, which option should I choose in my EE form: "Master’s degree, or professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession" or "Bachelor’s degree OR a three or more year program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute" ? I've got only one diploma with actual degree of "specialist" - 5 years of education in the university with written project as final exam.

Thanks in advance !

Hey buddy,

I am in the same situation, can you please share what you chose and did CIC recognize your two degrees or you got points for your bachelor's only?

Others - please share your experience.

Awaiting your inputs, thanks in advance.

Cheers

No - the Master's degree wasn't evaluated as a Master's degree. It was evaluated as "One year of graduate study". So you can't claim points for a Master's.

Hi,

Can we claim for "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees"?

thanks

well..m sailing in d same boat too..

but one of my relative he evaluated his credentials last yr...and in the reports before 2015 the "program length" is mentioned...so for him

bachelors :

prog length : 3 years...

Canadian Equi : Bachelors ( 4 yrs)

Masters :

Prog length : 3 years
Canadian Equi : Masters in computer Application

so i guess...they wr awarding masters depending on the length/duration or wutsoeva...but now they have completely removed tht option of prog length and unfortunately all of us r suffering....

one of u hv posted here d link of ECA convenrsion on CIC website..

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp

i have an interpretation...

for bachelors if we opt " BACHELORS DEGREE OR OTHER PROGRAM" and claim 112 points

and for Master's degree as per the result analysis of ECA "one year graduate study" ...we opt " ONE YEAR DEGREE,DIPLOMA OR CERTIFICATE FROM A PROGRAM AT UNIVERSITY " and claim 84 points for that... ;D ;D

so thts summing upto 112+84 = 196... :p :p

how abt that?????

i know its foolish to take this way..but hopes if it works!!!
