Hi everyone,

Its probably annoying that I have multiple questions regarding the wes evaluation and documents but I am facing many difficulties with their requirements and the things that I read from this forum.
The stept for the evaluation that i took were:
1. Made a copy on both my diploma and supplement,
2. I notarized them in order to make them legit with the original.
3. I put an apostylle on both copies from our Ministry of education.
4. Translated them from my native tongue to english along with the signature from the Ministry.
5. Sent them to the Ministry of foreign affairs to get an official seal.

About WES:

Do I need to send my transcripts from my institution because they dont mention on their webpage anything regarding that.
They just say that they need my Degree certificate, Supplement and copies of my translations on both documents.
Check below what I get from their website for my application:

1. Degree Certificate

What you need to do:

For completed study, provide the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) of the Republic of Bulgaria with this document, ask the Ministry to verify your document by click here.

Important Information:

  • WES returns academic documents submitted to us with an original apostille upon completion of the evaluation.
2. Diploma Supplement
This is a document issued by the institution you attended. It must list all subjects taken and grades earned for each year of study.

What you need to do:

For completed study, provide the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) of the Republic of Bulgaria with this document, ask the Ministry to verify your document by apostille and to return to you. You then send the documents directly to WES. For information on the apostille process, please click here.

Important Information:

  • WES returns academic documents submitted to us with an original apostille upon completion of the evaluation.
  • For incomplete, in-progress, or pre-Bologna study, please provide the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) of the Republic of Bulgaria with your academic transcript, ask the Ministry to verify your document by apostille and to return to you. You then send the documents directly to WES.
  • If you have completed less than one year full-time post-secondary academic study, WES highly recommends that you also send secondary school documents.
3. Document Translations
WES also requires precise, word-for-word translations when your academic documents are not issued in English. Your documents can be translated by your institution, a certified translation agency such as COSTI Languages Bureau, or any other professional translation service.

What you need to do:

Send a clear and legible copy of your translations to WES.

Important Information:

  • Do not send your original translations. WES cannot return original translations.
  • WES does not translate documents.

Please advice me as I do not wish to waste time.
Thanks in advance

Well, there seems to be different rules for submission of documents to WES in every country. My submission went down pretty fine. I got my evaluation in about a month or so back in August last year.

So you sent directly notarized copies of your documents with an apostille to WES, without envelope to be stamped and sealed by the university?

I've put the documents in a big envelope and went to my university secretary to put an official sticker from the university as they didn't have official big envelopes with the logo. Then I asked them to put a stamp and a signature on the other side. It was pretty quick and easy.
NB: Most universities don't really have experience with WES, so it is advisable to tell them where to sign and put their stamps as per WES's instructions.

Thank you so much. So I have to contact WES about my situation, because I live currently in another country, and is impossible for me to visit my university in near future. At least, I don't have to send the originals too.

You can ask someone to send the papers on your behalf so that on you dont waste valuable time.

Hi there. Thank you for this information. I am a new member and I am glad I found this.
But still I am not sure what to do in my situation. I sent to WES notarized copy of my Bulgarian Diploma and transcripts, attached to the translations, with Apostille attached to it.They asked me to send the Originals and I did. I sent those separately, without any stamp.. Now they did approve the translations, but not the original. They are saying that the Apostille that I have sent is a Copy and they want the Original Diploma and Transcripts with the Attached Original Apostille.
From the Translation and Legalization firm from Bulgaria they explained that the apostille that I received is Original, with black tint, it is wet stamped by the ministry, attached to a Copy of the diploma so I can keep the original as it is, however, it is only given once. The procedure in Bulgaria is set and they will not certify on the original document as it is viewed that if something is stuck or something is written on the original diploma, or if it is damaged somehow, it is considered invalid.
I sent e-mails to WES, I called, they keep repeating the same thing. Please help, I am not sure what to do anymore. This process took more than 1 year and my WP expires in few months.
Thank you!

Hi There,

I am also having absolutely the same problem. Looks like we both have the problem within 3 weeks apart. My diplomas are also from Bulgaria and I keep calling WES and there is no way to reach a representative. They only have a phone call center and they ask you to e-mail them your questions. You can only speak with US. They do not connect you with Canadian customer services and all their customer services are in US but do not have access to your actual documents. It is a terrible service and experience so far is very BAD.
I mailed them the original Apostille- it is visible that it is an original self-adhesive sticker that is glued to the document with one original wet stamp, 3 ink original stamps and original signatures all over the Apostille, and they keep telling me that it is a photocopy. Today I spent 20 min talking to the customer rep in US who does not have any access to the so-called "WES educational evaluators" in Canada. I told them that I have already communicated by e-mail that this is what I received from the Ministry and that the Ministry also has a written instruction on the ORIGINAL Apostille how to verify it by logging online and verifying the number of the Apostille on the Ministry website. I am waiting for their reply but I guess it will be the same claim that it is a photocopy and not an original. I asked them by e-mail to have a different evaluator to give a second opinion on the documents.
Did you resolve your issue? Send me a message so I can find what can be done for obviously such incompetent WES services. They are telling me that let the Ministry call them- this is such a non-sense. They have to verify their procedures, no the Ministry of Education.
