Dear all, I have a question, what is the difference between engagement ceremony, traditional or customary marriage ceremony, commitment ceremony, partnership ceremony? If we used to marry without having a big party, just put the signatures and celebrated it around the family. How shall we call this kind of ceremony? Does it mean it was formal or informal? Thank you in advance!

If in your culture you are used to having small wedding celebrations, that should be fine. If there was just one small celebration, just call it "Wedding"? If you want, you can share some more information like where you and your partner are from and the type of weddings you are used to in your culture. That way may be some forum members here can help.

Yeah I am planning for common-law and that question seems not really relevant for me, but I suppose for marriage it may be.
