I would love relocate to calgary from winnipeg, but would like to get a job offer first, I am currently a secretary but i will settle for something entry level for the time being.

Do you know if that possible, or can you give some pointers

hi there,

I guess you might be already trying on the net for jobs but it is always advisable to fix some interviews and make a short trip just to see how things work and get the know Calgary, did you think about banking jobs :D.

I was a secretary back home and I have a college diploma from home, havent done any courses here, but have some work experience tempting at various offices here in canada.

I am planning to take a trip there, but it would be best if i could get a job offer, if its even a 1yr term which would give some time find something permanent then take over my family.

Hi Jassi,

Interestingly, i have a bachelors in Civil Engineering. Currently, i am working in this field in construction planning for 4years now. However, prior to this, i had been working in 1 of the top Banks in our country as a real estate appraiser in mortgage dept for 2 years. Is it also possible to look for this line of job when i reached there particularly in Calgary? Is this job quite difficult for new immigrants to obtain or any cert as well to be considered? Just would like to have some options and hopefully be fruitful.

Thanks in advance. :)

Hi,
you will have to get your engineering degree recognized from the engineering association, and definitely you finance experience will help to get you a entry level job in some financial institute or bank.

right now the engineering jobs might be low cause of low oil prices but banking jobs are still available.

cheers

Thank you Jassi for your opinion. I do hope so i can have these options to consider when looking for a job. Do hope they consider my finance experience, as you say that engineering its a bit on the low side.

Thanks ;)

u r welcome,by the way when r u planning t come

For the moment, still in the initial stage.. awaiting MR for the last system as FSW2014. Hoping and praying to have the final Visa by mid or 3rd quarter of this year. And hoping to have smooth landing most probably by Jan or Feb 2016.. In God's perfect time.

Hope as well by that time, this recession stage will pass and back to normal. ;)

Hi Guys,

It's been awhile this thread has been silent.

Still in the waiting mode for FSW2014 processing. Hopefully soon we can have a favorable result.

Just would like to ask you guys, how's the situation at the moment. Is the economy bouncing back again, hopefully!

All the best guys and be more prosperous in Canada. Praying to be there in God's perfect time.
