Hey guys,

So i'm planning on landing in Calgary end of this year along with my wife & 3 year old son. For those of you who have already been through this process, can you recommend any reasonable hotels/motels etc to stay in until we find a place to live? I found some ad's on kijiji that rent a furnished place for $60 a night which sounds likes a good deal?

Secondly, is it hard to rent a place if you do not have any credit history or is a deposit & a local reference usually enough? I was thinking of looking for a furnished place initially & then once we're settled in looking for a better place.

Finally, how are the job prospects in calgary for a hospitality/tourism professional? Would you guys recommend taking some local courses/certifications in order to improve chances of landing a job?

P.S. It would help if someone could come up with a approximate monthly budget for a family of three? Assuming you're renting for $1000-$1200. How much more would you end up spending on groceries, bills/utilities etc. Thanks for the help!

As a Landed Immigrant, Is it mandatory to provide REFERENCES or CREDIT SCORE to rent a 3 bed apartment/house ? ? ?

what is the best and cheap place to stay in Calgary for family of 3. I don't mind suburbs if it has public transport connectivity.

NE (has a lot of asians) & SE (industrial) are usually cheaper, SW has the big houses & is the most expensive. NW is somewhere in the middle i guess.
