Web portal for visit to a conference in Canada from UK

I have applied through GCkey Web portal from UK and submitted the IMM5257 form along with the required documentation including invitation letter for a conference in Canada and did biometric on 12 April 22. There is IRCC Web portal as well for online apply. Can any body teel me that I have submitted the right application using GCkey Web or I should apply again through IRCC portal? Please

I applied on GCkey for a visitor visa from UK too and gave biometrics on the 14th of Apr. From what I've read there's no real difference. What's your status now?

I am still waiting for the response from the embassy after which i will submit my passport. My other colleagues have applied through IRCC portal directly and selected business visa but i am still confused this complex system. On the day of biometric, did they give you a letter with handwriting which mentioned that you have to pay £18.35 pound and send your passport/embassy letter along with the payment evidence to this address 66 wilson street EC2A 2BT CVAC .my other colleagues who had applied on ircc web didn’t get such instructions on biometric day. Is anyone have any information about this??

Yes I got the same letter. The same info is available on the vfs website too.
I'm waiting to hear too, still on the background check and the eligibility review hasn't started

On various threads, I've seen people from both GCkey and the new portal have their application processed so I dont think it matters much. The london VO is apparently not very efficient from what I've read so far so it's a bit worrying.

I have also filled the Ircc online form which is very easy and more relevant for visitor visa under business category but didn’t submit as it will delay my visa process. But anyway, i am waiting for the first application, submitted through GCkey. Regarding my colleagues they had biometric on 5 May 22 so they still need to wait a little bit. If they get visa before mine then i will reapply again through ircc portal as my conference is 2nd week of july.

Not yet. My application is still being processed. You should make the payment and send the required docs only after you get the PPR

Thanks. And do you know about the £18.35 means for? As my other colleagues who applied through ircc portal didn’t receive any instructions on this kind of payment. They got the sticker on their passport only and waiting for the decision.

Yes, it's for a one-way courier. He told to make the payment, and post the PP+proof of payment+ contact details/address via royal mail. Once it is stamped they will return it vis DHL.

Maybe your colleague had a different officer. If you get the PPR, you should make the payment and send the docs whether you applied on gckey or new portal
