We should take action to push the CIC process our PGWP

Hi there, I am an international student and i applied my PGWP already! Since the processing time is crazy right now, we should do something to change this situation! I already sent emails to immigration minister and mayor of Toronto, and hope they can offer us some help on the WP processing. I believe we have the right to work in Canada after we graduate, because this is the original purpose of PGWP. Thus, we should take some actions now! I just lost a job offer this Monday, and, as far as I know, many people are experiencing the same situation like me! Indeed, refugees need help, but we need help too. We also need job to support ourselves and our family. Friends, we should do something right now! I already wrote to the immigration office and the Mayor to let them know that we are suffering now. If you have a facebook account, please post some comments on immigration office or the Mayor. If you don't want to disclose yourself, please write a letter to them. I believe this action can make difference! If any one of you have a better idea, please let me know! Good luck on our PGWP applications!

Hello. This is interesting about implied status. If you have applied for the PGWP and use SIN, passport and the expired study permit for the implied status then you can work until the decision is made? Doesn't it mean you can work longer in Canada then?

Can this work experience during the wait time be counted for express entry?

Yes - you can continue working in Canada legally until a decision is made.

At least rules doesn't indicate that you possess any right to work in Canada. Correct your facts. Having no PGWP has no impact on your job opportunity. All you need a valid SIN, passport and a study permit (valid/expired) to show your implied status.

Just confirmed with CIC, we international students cannot work under transitioning period! We changed our permit category (switch from student permit to work permit), so we are not allowed to work! However, the students who hold the off-compus work permit can continue to work! In addition, a valid work permit do make difference on the decision of employers!

It is not an off-campus work permit. It is a study permit allowing to work off-campus. Most international students who are enrolled full-time will be issued a study permit stating that they can work part-time up to 20 hours/ full time during summer. In this case, they will be eligible for implied status.

I do agree that most employers will prefer the actual work permit though.

Yes, indeed, I did asked them this question, because I want to work! But they replied me that since I am not a full time student right now! I am not eligible to work off-compus without a work permit!

Note: Paragraph R186(w) allows students who have completed their program of study to work while they are waiting for a decision on their work permit application as long as they were a full-time student enrolled at a designated learning institution in a post-secondary academic, vocational or professional training program, and they did not exceed the allowable hours of work.

Yes, indeed, I did asked them this question, because I want to work! But they replied me that since I am not a full time student right now! I am not eligible to work off-compus without a work permit!

The CIC call centre is staffed by poorly trained people who very often give out incorrect information. As per the law, you can work.
