We are common-law-partners and are sponsoring our children

Hello.

Me and my common-law-partner came to Canada in PR last May 2019.

We made a mistake by not bringing our children with us, although, in our application, we declared them as non-accompanying.

Now, we are working on sponsoring our children. While filling-up the forms, I encoutered something that I am not sure of.

Can I be the sponsor and my partner be the co-signer for all our kids? Or, should I sponsor mine and she sponsor hers?

You should each sponsor your own children unless they have been adopted by each of you.

So, she will be sponsoring her children, and I will be sponsoring mine.

However, we also have 1 child of our own.

My question is, if I will sponsor our child, in the documents we will be submitting, she will still list him as a dependent but will declare as non-accompanying, right?

No. There are no dependents in child sponsorship apps. Each child is a Principal Applicant. She would need to mention the child in some forms but she does not include the child.

Silly me. I thought IMM 0008 is for the sponsor, when i reviewed the guide, it's for the Principal Applicant.
