Hi All, need a favour.i'm 35 year old with MMS degree and 12 yrs work exp. Got clb 9 on my IELTS however the scores are totalling upto only 399 due to age factor. I'm applying for Wes but heard indian postgraduate degrees are only considered as graduate ones by Wes in point score system. Is this true as if not, my points as per cic website it's 415. Pls suggest on this as well as whether asking my wife to appear will help me cross the 400 mark and if it will make a difference?

Hi.

First of all, what is MMS Degree? can you mention in detail about your Bachelors and Masters degree names and universities from where did you complete them?

CLB 9 is a great score.

There are certain Masters degrees which are considered as Masters while some are a postgraduate diploma. In both cases, your CRS will be good.

In addition to that, if you wife also has Bachelors or Masters degree, you will get extra points.

you will also get extra points if you wife appears in IELTS.

Roughly, your CRS can reach up to 425-430.

Thanks Preetsingh! I've done by BSc Physics and Masters in Management Studies (Or MMS i.e MBA equivalent) both from Mumbai University. I heard WES treats these 2 combined as Bachelor score only. Likewise, my wife is BCOM+MMS combination from Mumbai University as well. All our courses are full time too.

based on your details, following is your Canadian Education equivalency.

You can choose two or more certificates out of which one must be of 3 years and similar can be chosen for your wife.

Credential 1
Country of Education: India
Name of Degree: Bachelor of Science
Name of Institution: University of Mumbai
Equivalency in Canada: Bachelor's degree (4 years)

Credential 2
Country of Education: India
Name of Degree: Master of Management Studies
Name of Institution: University of Mumbai
Equivalency in Canada: 1 year of graduate study

I have quickly calculated your CRS and it came as 430.
Your IELTS result : 8 7 7 7
your wife's : 7 7 7 7

Thank you so much Preetsingh! Much appreciated support. My score is 8.5, 7.5,7,7 and I was choosing the bachelor option because of wrong feedback I guess. These WES results reflecting on website as credentials 1 and 2 are what one usually gets after evaluation right? Will ask my spouse to appear as well. Thanks once again for this!!

MMS might be considered as Master's by WES - your only option is to get the evaluation done. Also, have your spouse's WES as well as IELTS done. If both of you get Master's and she has decent IELTS (band 7+), you will be at 450ish.

Thanks mt103plus! Yes hope they consider these qualifications as masters and rate as per the first cut evaluation on their website. Will submit my WES and wait for evaluation as suggested and in the meanwhile ask my wife to enroll for her IELTS too!

First, try to get WES ECAs and then calculate your final score. If you want to go to Canada, get WES first. Don't delay, they are already taking too much processing time these days. There are certain chances where WES considers some degrees as Masters. I have done 9-10 WES evaluations till now, of my friends, colleagues, only one got Masters and hist combination was (B.Com + MBA).

Really can't say anything about the calculation that WES does. anyways, hope for the best.

Wrong information, even if the spouse take 9 bands each, the CRS will never cross 445. The age of the primary applicant is 35.

I calculated the score - both masters and CLB9 with PA as 35 comes upto 451. Do the actual calculation before branding something as 'wrong information'.

Whether it is likely or not is a different story but OP can expect his CRS to be between 445-451 if he gets masters.

For a score of 451 IELTS will have to be CLB 10 and not CLB 9. But it's definitely an achievable score. @hskris do try and get a score of L8R8W7.5S7.5 to maximize your points and guarantee your chances of ITA.

Read the post carefully of that user hskris. He has clearly mentioned his IELTS result. With that score, even if you change the IELTS of wife to CLB9 or CLB10 or anything else, the CRS stays at 445.

I did calculation pretty well.

Age : 11 pts
Education : 23 pts
Experience : 11 (specify your exact experience in months)
IELTS : 20

total : 65

you need at least 67 to be eligible for express entry program.

try re-writing IELTS and get 8 7 7 7 (LRWS). Then you will be eligible.
or if you have experience of 4-5 years.
or if you have any relative in Canada.
